Samad Searles-Bevans, 49, of Clementon was later charged with obstruction of justice, contempt of court and numerous motor vehicle violations, Gloucester Township police said.

On Sunday, Aug. 20, at approximately 9 p.m.,  Gloucester Township Police were conducting a proactive patrol in the area of Millbridge Road.

Searles-Bevans was observed operating a motor vehicle with numerous motor vehicle violations and was then observed entering his residence.

Officers attempted to make contact with Searles-Bevans due to active warrants for contempt of court. Searles-Bevans refused to answer the door for officers and did not want to be arrested, police said.

After several hours, Searles-Bevans exited the residence and was safely placed under arrest.

There were no injuries.

Searles-Evans was taken to the Camden County Jail.
